The Dream Book of Self-Knowledge

Cart

  • designed to carry things away (e.g. old junk): this image bears a positive meaning since it symbolizes getting rid of unnecessary thoughts, relationships and dependencies; yet once the cart is used to bring in things and their piles, the dream has the opposite meaning and the dreamer pointlessly complicates his mind with unneeded ballast.
  • fork-lift: symbolic, but very effective help for the dreamer since it can remove many heavy burdens from the path, though it can also threaten the dreamer if the self-improvement process is too fast and out of control, which often happens in the early stages of the spiritual path.
  • difficult to pull a cart by oneself: in this case life is understood by the dreamer as a burden.
  • animals pulling a cart: controlled instinctual personifications (animals in a harness) help the dreamer.
  • if it serves to balance things (e.g. such as old junk), this image bears a positive meaning since it symbolizes getting rid of unnecessary thoughts, relationships and dependencies; yet once the cart is used to bring in things and pile them up, the dream has the opposite meaning and the dreamer pointlessly complicates his mind with unneeded ballast.
  • wheelchair: the person sitting in the wheelchair is unable to continue on the path through life (often even predicts death) or relates to inabilities of some parts (personifications) of the dreamer to continue on the intended life journey.
  • sitting in a wheelchair: the dreamer must relinquish everything that passes by and everything out of reach; the unconscious thus symbolizes the dreamer's inability to continue through life with these symbols and relations and tries to resolve a mutual conflict and dependency.
