Book

  • symbolizes the dreamer's active approach, satisfies his hunger for information and the desire for an emotional and later spiritual mindset.
  • a book is antithetical to instinctual images and since it can be an effective weapon against everything instinctual, it provides the dreamer with the chance to easily leave the instinctual level of experience and set out on the journey for knowledge.
  • title and table of contents of book: specifies the dreamer's current mindset and also his professional interest.
  • a humorous book: very positive since the dreamer is trying to take a detached view of life; see Humor.
  • commercial: you will have to perform an unpleasant task; sometimes indicates worries and tribulations.
  • of records: wastefulness, waste of precious time.
  • open: open possibilities for the future (the contents of such a book tells us more).
  • in a foreign language: see Language.
  • giving: the book's content symbolizes that which the dreamer is relinquishing in daily life.
  • receiving: the content symbolizes that which will soon pull the dreamer into the world of events; advises the dreamer which information should be acquired for external success.
  • planner, diary, notebook: helps the dreamer clarify life relations and the causes of some things around him.
  • book exposition, fair: practically the same meaning as a library, see Library.
  • a mediator between the unconscious and dreamer, a mediator through which the dreamer can obtain information on future events (see Past and Future Visions archetype).
  • can be a window to the past, including to past lives (for instructions on conscious experiencing of past lives see Wise Old Man archetype – dream 11).
  • acquiring books in exchange for other things: the longing for knowledge for which the dreamer is willing to surrender the outside world.
  • rejecting a book because the dreamer is already familiar with it: you want to avoid repeating the same mistakes that you have already made.
  • destruction of books, worthless books: destroying the past and also the advice of ancient alchemists – tear up the books*72.
  • the dreamer is writing a book: the unconscious is urging the dreamer to undertake creative work to capture his experiences.
  • of tales: a very important symbol of the spiritual level (see Tale).
  • quoting spiritual books: a frequent mistake on a spiritual path is made from enthusiasm and passion, but unfortunately for the dreamer this is only external knowledge that is not yet supported by inner experiences*73.
  • spiritual: confirms the direction toward a spiritual life.
  • comes in the dreams of a person taking the spiritual path, interesting development: first educational books and encyclopedias appear, then books full of emotion; these are then exchanged for fabulous, mystical and spiritual books; at the very climax, a person should heed the call of the unconscious and abandon the world of external guidance for that of internal guidance, which can only be understood through his own experience.
  • bound in leather: the book of life (if it has golden lettering, then it is a blessed life).
