- seeing: unpleasant traits are arising from within so that the dreamer uses the symbol of the broom to sweep them from his mind; the unconscious uses this image to alert the dreamer to the need for moral cleansing.
- working with a broom: an attempt at mental cleaning in the soul and the need for further, even more thorough moral cleansing (especially if the broom is used at work or at home).
- if in the dream the handle is more distinct than the symbol of the broom itself, then it consists of a phallic symbol.
- flying on a broom: during even temporary depersonalization this is a completely normal image of the Active Imagination archetype, an image that we willfully imprint with our desire tendencies.
