The Dream Book of Self-Knowledge

Fur

  • on animals: emphasizes instincts both in the bodies of animals and in the bodies of instinctual personifications of overgrown body hair.
  • as a trophy, on the wall, as a rug: indicates victory over instincts, a victory that semantically relates to the instinctual animal bearing the fur.
  • stoat fur: see Ermine.
  • fur cap or gloves: protection of the dreamer from animalistic qualities that were linked to the animal that originally possessed the fur.
  • fur collar: in some respects can be viewed as a victory over instincts that are symbolized by the animal formally bearing the fur, but this victory can be invalidated by any choking or discomfort caused by the fur collar or by the creature coming back to life.
