The Dream Book of Self-Knowledge

Refusal, refusing

  • refusing to play with a child: very negative since the dreamer is elevating reason over emotions.
  • refusing to play cards: if we refuse to play cards with someone, we do not want to continue sharing our life with them (this image often shows the definitive culmination of a breakup).
  • refusing sex, rejecting sinful thoughts: the dreamer has realized the degradation of feelings and the risk of moral decline on the level of instinctual living, which is enabling him to return into the arms of emotional experience.
  • refusing a beer: the dreamer will avoid a conflict.
  • someone refuses to sit on the bench with the dreamer: you are experiencing rejection in getting to know someone or during a romantic encounter.
  • seeing someone refuse an award, honor or fame: a good model to follow; the chance to free oneself from the ego.
  • the dreamer refuses an award, honor or fame: important liberation from the ego, time recently devoted to the futile construction of the personality can now be used to the benefit of the whole.
  • refusing an offer to become rich: you won't suffer from lack (perhaps even your whole life).
  • the rejection and unwillingness to accept the principles of religious symbolism: leads to joyless personal crises and nightmares; see the individual symbols.
  • refusing to accept coins: the dreamer's active approach in self-improvement.
  • refused violence: typical of emotional personifications, while instinctual personifications welcome violence; spiritual personifications have an indifferent approach linked to compassion for the victim and instigator of violence.
  • rejecting the promises of others: in doing so the dreamer liberates himself (in the figures of the personification that promise) from the pressures and suffering that the promise triggers.
  • refusing an offered ring: in doing this the dreamer is abandoning a current or potential partner relationship.
  • other explanations of the refused symbol: see refused symbols.
