  • often creates a subconscious barrier between instinctual and emotional contents.
  • in the best case it enables the dreamer to distance himself from instinctual content; in a worse case the dreamer behind the fencing is prevented from making positive changes in his own experiences.
  • of dangerous contaminated areas (with radioactivity or chemicals): belongs to the Apocalypse archetype; the unconscious is using these images to prevent the dreamer from going back to the world of old fossilized views.
  • can also be part of the Basic Perinatal Matrix archetypes as the result of a "bad womb*57".
  • a foretelling of conflicts and sometimes even indiscriminate attacks in the dreamer's waking consciousness, when he directly participates in fencing and when sticks are used instead of conventional weapons.
