North (only from the perspective of northern hemisphere inhabitants)
while the south is associated with hot sensuality, with burning passion, ever flowing emotions and instincts, emotional coldness is attributed to the north and, in the presence of other spiritual symbols, the status of the spiritual level.
if the north is linked to the south in a dream (e.g. a north-south indicator or south-north sign), then there is still peace between the aforementioned states.
the south more represents physical love; the north symbolizes an inclination for feelings that from a certain perspective (e.g. from a sensual person's view) can be mistaken for apathy.
in the same image with the south: standing in mutual antithesis (like the other opposing positions over – under, north – south or east – west, right – left, back – front); see Antitheses.
the unconscious must constantly zigzag between the antitheses that we have bound our personal existence to, and thus the unconscious leads the dreamer through dreams to an awareness of the antitheses so that the ensuing questioning of the individual antitheses leads the dreamer to an awareness of the state of unity in which antitheses don't exist; this process leads to the future unification of antitheses in the Anima – Animus, Coniunctio, UFO – Initiation Ceremonies and Attentiveness archetypes; the Puer – Kora archetype speaks of antitheses and their influence on children.
