The Dream Book of Self-Knowledge

Power

  • experiencing power over others: can lead the dreamer to the acquisition of earthly power in everyday life, but in the pleasurable intoxication of power he can forget about his inner state and about controlling the growing power of the ego; such an intoxication of power can go as far as dictatorial acts (in families, at work or, in the worst case, in states), in which the survival of the fittest applies and society suffers through the fight for power and its imposition.
  • recognizing the power of antitheses: an important act on the path of self-improvement since, just as day alternates with night, success with decline, beauty with ugliness, love with hatred and life with death, so do antithesis pulsate in the monotone circle of the physical world; the gradual unification of antitheses (see Anima – Animus archetype and in a higher phase the Coniunctio archetype) shows the magical power of inner freedom from which a person will control his own life and death (the biblical encounter between Christ and Satan*87 tells of a similar course).
  • having the power to change a dream's setting, events and creatures in it: one of the scenarios of the Active Imagination archetype manages to suppress the setting that was, based on the dreamer's qualities, born in the unconscious, manages in the brief liberation from the power of the ego to find the splendor of being, in which everything is attainable, everything can be known and the person finally no longer wants to own anything since he feels the constricting feeling of owning things, feelings and ideas.
  • power over oneself: stronger than any weapon.
