The Dream Book of Self-Knowledge

Jumping

  • the rhythm of jumping is a clear allegory of intercourse.
  • as part of a sport: see Sports.
  • on skis: see Skis, skiing.
  • on rocks: the dreamer is wisely making use of past experiences and knowledge; see Stone.
  • into water: symbolizes the courage to plunge into an emotional environment whose quality is derived from the purity of the water.
  • with a parachute: see Parachutist.
  • headfirst from heights: a test of the dreamer's courage and inner initiation very much like the practices of some native people.
  • from a roof into snow: symbolizes the direction of the conscious mind toward a spiritual area (see Snow).
  • from one ice floe to the next: symbolizes the dreamer's ability to move on the border between the emotional (water) and spiritual (ice) level.
  • jumping beings and animals: express the great vitality of this symbol in the dreamer's subconscious, which is why it is important in the same dream to understand these images, to eliminate them and assimilate them through higher attentiveness, or to find peace of mind in an indifferent approach to them (see Indifference).
